WHAT IS THE MESSAGE BEHIND EACH OF YOUR SONGS?

CD Cover

IN PIECES:  In Pieces wasn't written by Streamlined, however....

In Pieces : The original lyrics on Kenny MacLean’s “Clear” album gave us the feeling that there was a constant up hill battle for success. We believe the song is about moving forward and not giving up. Imagine being thrown and having no one to catch your fall.  Who will be left to pick up the pieces when you are shattered? We feel a certain sense of loss, but the overtones throughout the entire piece are that of an obscure acceptance of struggle in one's life.

SUICIDE BOMBER:

Quite possibly the saddest song on the record. This song is about how ugly the world can be. A young 18 year old Palestinian girl pledges her life for her beliefs-in turn taking the life of a young 17 year old Israeli girl who happened to look like her killer in this tragic suicide bombing.

President George W Bush finally got one right when he said,
"When an 18 year old Palestinian girl is induced to blow herself up and in the process kills a 17 year old Israeli girl.  The future itself is dying" .

It is this simple, Streamlined wrote this song for peace and we sing it to raise awareness. There are so many messages here. Ultimately, the moral is that we have to learn to accept people for their differences because underneath we are all the same.

REF: The documentary  “To Die in Jerusalem” tells the story of the girls Rachel Levy and Ayat Al-Akhras. Victims of a never ending war. For more information visit: todieinjerusalem.com

THE WORLD MAKES YOU OPEN YOUR EYES:
Drifting away and letting the world fill your mind with euphoric memories of beauty and love. No one can take your memories from you. It's about knowing how to see the positive no matter how ugly a situation is or may have been.

Album Back

SIREN'S COVE:
The hypnotic calls of the women we love. When they find us, we can remain lost in their greatness until the end of days. The Sirens are an old sailor’s myth. Where the wails of the sirens would hypnotize the men and lure them into the rocky waters and ultimately their watery graves. You can hear these calls in the second verse of this song.

LET DOWN:
This song (contrary to its up-beat sorta' poppy vibe), is really about the let downs in our lives. It's about knowing that there will be let downs in life but staying positive and knowing that just as there will be bad times, there will be great times as well. We are too hard on ourselves. We should screw something up every now and then just for fun.

WITHOUT A DOUBT:
This is a song about a breakup that took way too long to happen. Things get ugly in the end. We were also able to demonstrate a raw side of Streamlined. Each time we perform this song live, past wounds open up. It has the ability to take you on this ride and in the end it's a cathartic experience. The message is there. Heaven help us. Bluntly put, it's about the human condition.

JUST A REMINDER:
This song was really honest as far as the production phase is concerned. We didn't try to dress this one up too much. It's about having been through something negative and having to sit and watch someone you care about go through the same shit without being able to help them. Simply put, sometimes people need to experience things and learn from them on their own.

Inside the Album

  TOXIC TEAR:
This song is about having to do or say something that you know is going hurt someone you care about. Sometimes you need to make a destructive decision that you know is ultimately for the good no matter how sad or difficult it may be to do. Although it comes across as an angry emotional breakup between lovers, it was in fact inspired by conflict inside the band and not a romantic relationship

HOLLY HOLLYWOOD:
A view into the world of porn. Escapism, the reality and availability in this world of .com. The song questions obsession and the cost to peoples' emotions.

DEADICATION:
This song is a tribute for all the people who are no longer physically with us but their positive energy remains. You hear the voice of a beloved Grandmother singing at the end of the song “Glory, Glory Hallelujah”. Quite simply she is looking forward to the next life what ever it may be.

We have been asked: What is the main message behind the CD?

Each song on the album is different in it's own way.  Our message is one of awareness whether it be emotional or political.
